That means we look at the quality of care in Scotland to ensure it meets high standards. The Hub provides access to a range of resources aimed at supporting improvement in the social care and social work sectors through the use and knowledge of research skills and evidence-led practice.
On the Hub you will find improvement resources from the Care Inspectorate, as well as other partner bodies such as the Scottish Social Services Council, Healthcare Improvement Scotland, NHS Education for Scotland, and the Scottish Government, amongst others; information on national policy and legislation, and subjects relevant to the social care and social work sector in Scotland and further abroad.
The directory delivers action 5 of the Early Learning and Childcare Quality Action Plan that was published in 2017. We will create a directory of Continuous Professional Learning opportunities to help the ELC sector identify developmental support available to them once qualified.
This directory will:
Help you plan your professional learning by providing a list of training opportunities in your area.
Promote the full range of flexible and part-time learning and development opportunities directly to you.
Help providers address gaps and work with the sector to plan and match provision to need.
It is not a list of approved training providers. However, to be included in the directory, CPL providers were asked to demonstrate that they have an established method of monitoring quality, and each listing sets out how this is undertaken (including accreditation and adherence to regulation).
The Scottish Government has funded the ELC improvement programme to support early learning and childcare settings who offer funded places and are not currently meeting the quality criteria of the National Standard. The aim of the programme is to support funded settings to make the improvements they need to meet the quality criteria.
We work collaboratively with services through the delivery of learning events, providing individual improvement support and the sharing of good practice resources. We work with local authorities to support the improvement of early learning and childcare settings within their authority area.
We have developed a range of bite sized sessions which are available to all services. These can be accessed by clicking the links below.
Remember to take the time to review the bitesize resources we have available and if you any feedback on these please get in touch with us via our email address. We look forward to hearing from you.
