Find a log smaller than an adult's leg. Roll it over and look for insects, spiders and salamanders. Be sure to roll the log back carefully when you are done looking.
Find a rock or a log to sit on. Remain there for 20 - 40 minutes all alone (or silently). Look, listen, smell and touch. Maybe even draw or write about something you notice.
Look for places that animals can sleep that are warm and dry. Look for nests up in the branches. Look for holes in the trunks of trees. Look for holes in the ground.
