Holmes County Represented at "Rosenwald" Movie Screening
Holmes County residents and organizations represented the county at the Sunday Screening of the "Rosenwald" movie, shown May 19 at the Two Mississippi Museums in Jackson. Attendees (pictured l to r) were: Sherri Reeves, Director of the Lexington Colts in Lexington; Diane Feldman, Author and Researcher; Maxine Magee, Community Resident; Ophelia Ramsey, Community Resident; Sylvia Gist, Director of Migration Heritage Foundation in Durant; Arnita Knight, Director of Do All Things Children Circle in Lexington; Lolvonne Williams, Director of Mileston Community Development Organization in Tchula; and Susan Hart, who has ancestral linkages in the county.
After the screening, Sylvia Gist (pictured center) served on a panel that discussed the film. She shared her experiences as a student at Poplar Springs Rosenwald School in Holmes County. Mississippi Humanities Council (MHC) sponsored the panel discussion, and Stuart Rockoff, MHC Director, was the moderator.
