The Foundation distributed $7,000 in scholarships to college-bound seniors in May 2023. Five $1000 awards went to Mississippi residents and two to Illinoisians. Five Mississippians received the Chalmers Archer, Jr. Memorial Scholarship, funded with money earmarked to honor the memory of Dr. Chalmers Archer. The late Dr. Archer was a native of Holmes County, Mississippi. His relative, Ms. Rashunda Archer--a Holmes County School District employee---presented the awards on behalf of the Foundation during Class Day exercises on May 5 at Holmes County Community High School in Lexington. In addition, each awardee from Illinois received $1000 in scholarships from the Foundation’s earmarked William Jordan Campbell Memorial Fund, The Reedy Family Memorial Fund, and MHF General awards.
