The teaching practicum program conducted at the University of Northern Philippines Laboratory School provides invaluable experience in developing competencies as prospective teachers, particularly in the field of Physical Education. Through observation activities, lesson plan preparation, and direct teaching practice, students can understand the education system, teaching strategies, and student characteristics in different learning environments. The experience of teaching sports, conducting field practice, and receiving guidance from cooperating teachers helps improve pedagogical abilities, classroom management, and communication skills in the learning process. In addition, interaction with students and teachers at school also provides new insights into the importance of active, structured, and student-centered learning approaches.Â
Overall, I believe there are several suggestions that can be given for the development of the program in the future. First, students are expected to prepare themselves well before conducting teaching practice, especially in terms of mastering the material, preparing lesson plans, and communication skills in English. Second, cooperation between student teachers and cooperating teachers needs to be continuously improved so that the guidance and evaluation of learning can run more optimally. Third, schools can continue to develop facilities and vary learning methods to make learning activities more interesting and effective for students. With good cooperation between universities, schools, and students, it is hoped that this teaching practice program can continue to provide benefits for the development of future educators' competencies.
