Scenes are a custom set of rules that you can apply to one or more of your classrooms. Your scenes are not classrooms. You can apply scenes into multiple classrooms.

- Can set up for tabs to automatically open when sessions start.
- Set max number of allowed open tabs.
- Create a list of allowed or blocked websites for each session.
- Create a testing environment.
- Automatically open all the web pages students will need for class.
- Give student a block of free time for education games but not access to time wasting sites.
Create a New Scene

- Click the three bars in the left corner, next to classroom. Click "go to all scenes."
- Click green "Add Scene" button in top, right corner and give it a specific name. Give it a description if you would like.
- Example: ELA Do Now
- Click to allow mode or block mode.

- Allow mode lets students visit ANY site EXCEPT those that you block.
- Example: you want them to be able to research on the web, but do not want them to get side tracked with the math game website, Prodigy. Put Prodigy website into the ADD EXCEPTIONS box and they will NOT be able to open it.
- Blocks students form visiting any website EXCEPT those you allow.
- Example: You want students to be able to access, IXL, Razkids, Newsela and NOTHING ELSE. Put those three sites into the ADD EXCEPTIONS box and they will not be able to go to any other sites.

You can also set it up y to automatically open tabs at the beginning of class or limit the amount of tabs a student can open.

When you are in block mode, students can only visit the sites you allow. That can take a lot of time though, coming up with all the sites they might need. That is when you create an exception list. Group sites into lists and apply them to scenes.
- Example: Reading list: raz kids, Newsela, Brainpop, Readworks

Base URL
- If you block a base URL the whole site will be blocked
- Example: block wikipedia.org, ALL of wikipedia will be blocked
Subdomain URL
- If you block this URL, es.wikipedia.org, all Spanish language articles will be blocked, but NOT the English articles
Folder URL
- If you block URL with a folder, that article in that folder will be blocked
- Example: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_Revolution, everything on the French Revolution will be blocked

- If you have a scene applied to a session, like you blocked all sites but IXL, but you now want to let students onto Newsela, you need to END the current session and start a new one with a NEW scene.
- If you do this and the kids can still not access a site you are allowing or can access a site you've blocked, tell them to refresh their page or even close and re-open chrome.
- You must end a session at the end of your class. If you do not, your student will go to their next class still in your session. That means all the restrictions you put in place in your class are still in place for the student until you end the session.
- If you already set up an end time for the session, you do not have to worry about ending it. It happens automatically.
