Welcome to Global Class! We are so excited to get to know you and work with you this year!
On this page you will find all of the information relating to 9th Grade Global History class in a virtual space. We recognize that this year is not ideal for students; however, know that we are working hard to accommodate your needs and to address any needs that come up.
If you click on the collapsible tabs below you will find our office hours information and Google Classroom codes for your Global class section/pod. Further down you will also find our classroom policies and extra resources.
If you or your parent/guardian have any questions or concerns about our class or anything else, please do not hesitate to contact us at whendrick@metropolitanels.com or spaniagua@metropolitanels.com.

Beginning of Class Routine
1. Since your Global Classes are ALWAYS Remote, you must log into your Class/Pod’s Zoom link with your DOE Email Account.
2. ALL work for Remote Global Classes will be posted on your Class/Pod’s Google Classroom page; it will be organized by date and lesson topic.
3. Once you enter into Zoom, you will have 1 minute to get yourself settled and ready for class (make sure your camera is turned on and your mic is muted; it really helps us!) - you are expected to be present and engaged just like when we are in school together.
4. You will then have 10 or so minutes to work independently on the warm up for the day while on mute. I will probably read (or ask students to read) the Background Context, Task, and the actual reading (if it is a text)
5. The warmup will either be "collected" by myself for a grade, or we will go over it together as a class. You will not know in advance if it is being collected or not, so you must complete every warm up like it will be graded.
Restroom Use
Just like in school, attendance is being taken - please send a message to just me in the chat so I am aware that you will away from your computer for a little bit.
Assessments for Learning
There will be some form of an assessment for almost every class, but most will not take you more than 10-15 minutes to complete. These assignments will be checked or "collected" each time they are assigned and must be turned in by the date that they are due. If it is an assignment I am checking, as long as it is complete, you will receive full credit for the assignment. If it is an assignment that I am "collecting," I will grade it and give you feedback on your work. You will have one week to make corrections to your work. These assignments are weighted a .5 or 1.0 in Jumprope.
Assessments of Learning
At the end of each case study, you will have some sort of a product that assesses your ability to use what you have learned. The format will vary from case study to case study based on what you have learned. It will be weighted a 2 in Jumprope.
Jumprope
I will use Jumprope to take attendance during each on-line zoom class (it will be updated on the same day that we meet). I will also be sure to update it at least once a week as well with any graded work from the week.
