Parent-mediated Child Learning caseinpoint_vol2_no11.pdf

What are parent responsive strategies?

Parent knowledge and responsiveness in their interactions are described as:

~ Parent identifies what the child wants or does not want to do in any given activity.

~ Parent lets the child know that he/she understood the child’s intention.

~ Parent responds to the child regarding his/her interests in the activity.

~ The child lets the parent know he/she understood the parent’s response concerning the activity.

Parent responsiveness strategies are used to enhance parent competence and confidence as they intentionally plan to promote child learning in everyday activities.
