International Student Teaching Experience
Off to Amman, Jordan!
On October 29, 2022, I packed my bags and headed to Amman, Jordan to complete the second half of my student teaching experience.
Why Jordan?
For the second half of my student teaching experience, I taught at Whitman Academy in Amman, Jordan. I chose to travel to Jordan because it was in a part of the world that I had never been to before. I wanted to learn more about the culture, traditions, and history of Jordan while exploring the deep and rich history that the region has to offer.
Why International Student Teaching?
I grew up going to an international school in Kenya and got to experience the value of being surrounded by a variety of cultures. Experiences like this have had a huge impact on who I am today. My love for travel combined with my appreciation for new cultures prompted me to pursue completing some of my student teaching overseas. I truly enjoyed being immersed in a new culture and interning at an international school. Through my experience, I developed skills in communication, collaboration, and cross-cultural competency as I was challenged to adapt to new situations and find ways to support my students.
