Kayla Reeves (formerly Crowley) is proud to serve in her eighth year as Associate Director of Bands at McDonald Middle School in Mesquite, TX.
During her time at McDonald, Mrs. Reeves has helped the Mustang Bands earn consistent Superior ratings at various contests. In 2022, Mrs. Reeves led the Symphonic Band to earn straight Superior ratings at the UIL Concert & Sightreading Evaluation, for which the ensemble received their first Sweepstakes trophy in school history. The Symphonic Band has since gone on to earn multiple, consistent Sweepstakes at UIL.
Mrs. Reeves attended Texas Tech University, where she studied flute with Dr. Lisa Garner-Santa and performed with multiple ensembles. Notable performances include: the 2017 Texas Music Educators Association Convention and the 2016 College Band Director Association Convention. Additionally, Mrs. Reeves was a Section Leader and Visual Instructor for the Goin’ Band from Raiderland, taught private lessons in Lubbock, TX, served as Vice President for the music service sorority Tau Beta Sigma, and worked on staff at the Texas Tech Band & Orchestra Camp for seven years. In 2017, Mrs. Reeves graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education. Before Texas Tech, Mrs. Reeves attended McKinney High School in McKinney, TX, where she served as a drum major for the Royal Pride Band.
Professional affiliations include: Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association and Tau Beta Sigma National Honorary Band Sorority.
Mrs. Reeves resides in Royse City, TX with her husband, Wes. She loves musicals, concerts of all genres, board games and playing with her Boston Terrier, Piper.
