Child Development 1 is a course designed to increase student understanding of children's development and behavior from age one through school age. Students will examine the influence of parents, other adults, and the environment of the various areas of development such as physical, emotional, social, moral and intellectual development.

UCONN Introduction to Individual & Family Development
UCONN Introduction to Individual & Family Development
This college level course is designed to provide students with an understanding of individual and family development over the lifespan, with a focus on the developing of an individual within the context of the family system. This course requires field work.

MxCC ECE 101- Introduction to Early Childhood Education
This college level course introduces students to early childhood education with emphasis on historical perspective, theories, teaching practices and current trends in the preschool classroom. This course covers aspects of developing child from birth through age eight. Observation hours in preschool classroom are required. Upon completion students will be eligible for 3 college credits from Middlesex Community College.

At the completion of this course students will be able to set-up a creative play environment, facilitate children's creative play and develop an art philosophy for children. Upon completion students will be eligible for 3 college credits from Middlesex Community College.

This college level course is designed to examine the relationship between health, safety, and nutrition and child development. Emphasis will be on the strategies needed to implement a safe, healthy and nutritionally sound program.

Personalized Learning Experience
Platt High School now offers Personalized Learning Experiences (PLE) which allow students to customize their educational program to pursue areas of interest or investigate a career outside of the traditional classroom setting. Students will work with a staff member to design a program with measurable learning objectives and must demonstrate mastery of the program components. Students may earn credit based on successful completion of the PLE. For more information see your School Counselor.
