Woodworking Technology 1
This course provides opportunities for understanding of the manufacturing process. A variety of products will be produced with raw and recycled materials highlighting wood, metals, and plastics. This course includes design, planning, documentation manufacturing and finishing processes. Project work will be the vehicle for instruction.

Home Maintenance & Consumer Education
Home Maintenance & Consumer Education
Students will be introduced to the mechanical systems of the home: electrical, plumbing, heating, etc… and the necessary preventative maintenance/repair strategies. Students will also gain knowledge of tools and safety procedures.

Woodworking Technology 2 allows students to increase their understanding of manufacturing processing. Emphasis will be placed on the use of machine tools to produce finished products. Students will learn about quality methods, how to budget time, materials and money and be responsible for their tools, equipment and facility – traits necessary for successful future employment.

Students will develop increased competencies and marketable skills. As students develop their own project ideas, instruction will become increasing individualized. Students will be asked to apply past and present learning to the student-selected project. Increased skill building opportunities include independent thinking, problem solving, efficient use of resources and independent work.

MxCC CAD 110 - Introduction to CAD
This course is an introduction to the techniques of generating graphic images with computers using AutoCAD. Topics include: overview of CAD terminology, two-dimensional geometric construction, scaling, and assembly drawings including tolerance studies.

Personalized Learning Experiences
Personalized Learning Experiences
Platt High School now offers Personalized Learning Experiences (PLE) which allow students to customize their educational program to pursue areas of interest or investigate a career outside of the traditional classroom setting. Students will work with a staff member to design a program with measurable learning objectives and must demonstrate mastery of the program components. Students may earn credit based on successful completion of the PLE. For more information see your School Counselor.
