Career & Technical Education at Platt High School

The Business - Finance Track Pathway provides students the opportunity to explore the business industry with a focus on finance careers. This pathway will build a strong foundation of skills and knowledge required to succeed in business.

Course Offerings

Introduction to Business

Course introducing the field of business including topics such as management, finance, accounting, marketing and other areas of general business.

Computer Applications 1 & 2

These courses will focus on Microsoft Word, Excel, and a variety of web based applications. The focus is on word processing, spreadsheets, and integrated projects.

Both courses are available as an accelerated course.

Personal Finance

Students will learn to plan their own personal finances. They will create goals, track their income and spending, develop personal budgets, understand the cost of using credit and study the different types of insurance options for consumers.

Accounting 1

Students will begin to understand the business practices and transaction, maintain proper records involved in the day-to-day business activities. This is a great background class for students who plan to major in business.

Accounting 2

This course is recommended for student who is planning a career in accounting, further study in accounting or another business major in college.

Accounting 1 is a prerequisite to take this course.

Personalized Learning Experience

Platt High School now offers Personalized Learning Experiences (PLE) which allow students to customize their educational program to pursue areas of interest or investigate a career outside of the traditional classroom setting. Students will work with a staff member to design a program with measurable learning objectives and must demonstrate mastery of the program components. Students may earn credit based on successful completion of the PLE. For more information see your School Counselor.
