Artist Statement: The reasoning for my sustained investigation is my portrayal of myself through my art no matter what media, composition, or format. I am a spiritual person and take pride in it. Along with spirituality, I connect with astrology to find assurance and peace with myself, so I used what was most important to me to connect my pieces together. For example, The Bull’s Inevitable Celebration isn’t me physically, but it portrays my passions for astrology and spirituality even though the meaning has a broader idea: that everyone, no matter how powerful or strong you are has up and downs due to fate and that everything comes to an end. This shows that I keep the presence of the theme and myself through these pieces that make me strive to portray art everyday.

My sustained investigation shows evidence of practice, experimentation, and revision through my idea by the consistency of tarot cards specifically, but also the wide range of media like, copic markers, paint, collage, water color, graphite, and ink. This shows that I practice different techniques and media knowing that it might fail. My experiment with the copic markers for the memory project succeeded and allowed me to start the process with the umbrella project. I feel as if my confidence has gotten better over the four years, but specifically this year because of the experimentation that I have conquered and revisions I have made to continue my pieces to have the same essence throughout. I have used the pieces throughout the three years to correct and practice, making my pieces this year grow and prosper to be something great.
