Definition:
A noun is a word that names a person, an animal, a place, a thing, or an idea. A noun can tell who or what.
Types of nouns:
common nouns - words that name general items
e.g. I really want to live in a big city one day.
proper nouns - words that name specific items
e.g. I really want to live in Tel Aviv one day.
Countable vs. uncountable nouns
Anything that can be counted, whether singular – a cat, a house, a friend, etc. or plural – some books, lots of appls, etc. is a countable noun.
e.g. Your book is in your bag. Take out your books from your bags.
Anything that cannot be counted is an uncountable noun. Uncountable nouns always take the singular form of the verb.
e.g. I need to drink some water. The water is clean.
