Grade 10 students dissecting flowers in a biology class

The students previewed the vocabulary and task beforehand, completing a worksheet and colouring activity. ELL and LS students looked for unfamiliar words and added them to their glossary. These students then brought flowers from home and dissected them, identifying different parts of the flower using their previous knowledge from the worksheet. The hands on nature of the activity allowed easier access to the curriculum for ELL and LS students.
