Abstract: Today, robots are widely used in everyday life to make people’s lives easier. In the past couple of decades, a need for human following robotic systems has occurred due to rapid increase of the robotic technology. This project aims to implement “a human following robot” that can perform several tasks and assist humans using an Arduino Uno controller and several ultrasonic distance sensors. These tasks include following the human in a certain distance both in straight lines and by turning left and right properly without hitting the obstacles around it. The ultrasonic distance sensor was tested with a DC motor and it has been observed that the motor successful changed its rotation when the distance between itself and the targeted object exceeded 30 cm. However, while using a 4-wheeled robot platform, driving the wheel motors properly is one of the important tasks that needs to be tackled since the motor driver used for the wheels was not efficient enough to drive 4 wheels at the same time.
