Homecoming Queen 2020-21
by Alex Condit
Homecoming would usually be around the start of the school year to kick off the football season, but the week-long celebration of parades, pep rallies, and football just could not be the same. Luckily, our amazing student council was able to keep the Homecoming Queen tradition alive.
Mrs. Calaiacovo stated that the student council was trying to give every senior girl a chance to run for Homecoming Queen. Restrictions caused some setbacks, such as the seniors were not allowed to attend the assembly, there were no spirit link sales, and voting would be done online.
The student council was still able to make some highschool girl dreams come true by pushing past this. There were eighteen Homecoming Queen candidates: Emily Adams, Lauren Adkins, Sophie Alber, Alyssa Bresler, Julia Carano, Kayleigh Chavayda, Sarah Clardy, Claire Dorman, Lily Hausman, Elly Heine, Lilia Jackson, Alyssa Musat, Lucy O’Cull, Hannah Petrosky, Jordyn Ruppelli, Graci Selva, Morgan Trumpler, and Delaney Wickert. All of these girls did a great job with their speeches and applications.
Lucy O’Cull was announced Homecoming Queen over the announcements on March 5. Congratulations to Lucy for winning Homecoming Queen. Thank you to the student council and Mrs. Calaiacovo for making this happen.
The Mr. Medina competition will be happening next month, so boys better get started on those applications. Even though this year was wild and maybe not the best, there are still some good moments we should take with us.
Homecoming Hallway Contest
Medina High School was transformed into a different world as each of the student council classes decorated hallways for the Homecoming 2020-21 "Spirit Week"! The Junior class won the contest with their theme of "Good Dreams/ Bad Dreams".
