The coronavirus has been tough on everyone this past year. However there are ways to help one de-stress and relax. Humans feel the need to be in control all the time but, there are certains things they can’t control that would include the actions of others and what the future will bring. According to the CDC, there are multiple ways to help cope with stress; some examples are talking to others, taking breaks from work, and taking care of oneself. All of the coping mechanisms are great, but they don’t work for everyone. Each person has their own way of de-stressing.
A survey was conducted to gather information on how people cope with stress. Freshman Madelyn McKelvy replied, “Some things that I do to cope with covid is changing my space around or cleaning, and I've been watching a lot of Netflix.” Many others also gave their responses. Freshman student Carley Ostendorf said, “I cope with Covid by playing softball and have been watching a lot of Netflix shows.” From the responses, a lot of people like to watch Netflix, spend time with family, and listen to music to help cope with stress.
These are some ideas to help you with stress. There are still many other ways one could find to help them. Other examples of things to do are spend time with friends, play video games or sports, and do art. It's up to each person to decide what they want to do. The best to help is to reach out and talk to others. Text, email, or call a friend. No matter what, make sure to talk to someone.
