This Month's News "worthy" Updates: Social Emotional Learning: Building wide PBIS
This November, our students will delve into important social-emotional learning concepts, including Hidden Rules, Expected/Unexpected Behaviors, and Flexible vs. Stuck Thinking.
Hidden Rules are the unspoken guidelines that dictate how we should behave in different social situations. For example, what might be considered acceptable behavior in a classroom may differ from that at home or during a social gathering.
Expected Behaviors are those that align with these hidden rules, helping students navigate their environments effectively. Conversely, Unexpected Behaviors may disrupt the flow of social interactions and can be confusing for peers.
The concept of Flexible Thinking encourages students to adapt their thoughts and actions to new situations, while Stuck Thinking refers to a fixed mindset that can hinder problem-solving and adaptability.
Throughout the month, students will engage in activities and discussions that reinforce these concepts, helping them to recognize and practice expected behaviors and develop their flexibility in thinking. We encourage you to discuss these ideas with your child to further support their understanding at home.
Here is the detailed lessons teachers and students will focus on in the month of November.

Big Life Journal: Parenting Tips;
The Value of Connection
We want to highlight the profound impact that genuine connections can have on your child's well-being and development. Establishing strong connections fosters a sense of security, trust, and belonging in children, creating a foundation for emotional resilience.
Research consistently shows that positive connections with parents and caregivers contribute significantly to a child's social and emotional growth. When children feel heard, understood, and supported, they are more likely to navigate challenges with confidence and develop essential life skills. Your active involvement and open communication with your child can make a lasting difference in their overall happiness and success.
