This Month's News "worthy" Updates:
Social Emotional Learning: Building wide PBIS
This month, students will focus on Conflict Management & Friendship and Test-Prep & Managing Test Anxiety (3-5).
Grades K-2: Students will explore what conflict means, practice problem-solving strategies, and learn how to be a good friend through discussions and interactive activities.
Grades 3-5: Lessons will reinforce conflict resolution skills while also introducing test-taking strategies and stress management techniques to help students feel confident for upcoming state testing.
These lessons will help students build important life skills, from handling disagreements respectfully to staying calm under pressure.
Continuing Social-Emotional Learning at Home;
This month, our Tier 1 counseling lessons will focus on helping students navigate conflicts in a healthy way and build strong, positive friendships. Here are some ways you can reinforce these skills at home:
Encourage Perspective-Taking: Help your child see different points of view by asking, “How do you think the other person felt?”
Practice “I” Statements: Teach them to express their feelings with statements like, “I feel upset when…” instead of blaming.
Model Problem-Solving: Guide your child through steps like staying calm, listening, and working together to find a solution. Also, narrate out loud as you do these things through your day.
Discuss Friendship Skills: Talk about what makes a good friend, such as kindness, honesty, and respect.
