By the end of Quarter 4:

• I can identify terms tempo, a tempo, rit, accel and define fermata, common time, accent, staccato and flag.
• I can name and write all Treble Clef notes, including leger notes
• I can sight read at least 2 measures of melody using quarter, half and eighth notes and the syllables DRMFS
• I can sight read and write at least 4 measures of rhythm using beamed eighth notes in changing meter
• I can write the universal counting in changing meter for notes and rests up to beamed eighth notes and single eight notes and rests.

Learning Activities: sightreading rhythms; learn and review the solfege scale; sing warm ups to practice matching pitch and understand the importance of warming up; learn and polish songs for the Pops Concert.

Level 5 ASSESSMENTS must be passed no later than April 24th.

Level 6 ASSESSMENTS must be passed no later than May 8th.

MP1.Cr.11.m: Compose short pieces using standard and/or alternative notation and technology within specified guidelines, demonstrating the use of the elements of music.

MP2.P.17.m: Rehearse and demonstrate the ability to sing expressively, on pitch, and in rhythm, while using proper technique and maintaining a steady beat.
