By the end of Quarter 3:

• I can identify dynamic terms pp, p, mp, mf, f, ff, crescendo, decrescendo, mezzo and issimo
• I can name the Treble Clef staff notes and leger notes
• I can sight read at least 2 measures or DRMFS in 4/4 time using quarter and half notes and quarter rest
• I can sight read at least 4 measures of rhythm in 4/4, 3/4 adn 2/4 time adding beamed eighth notes
• I can write the universal counting in 4/4, 3/4 and 2/4 time adding beamed eighth notes

Learning Activities: sightreading rhythms; learn and review the solfege scale; sing warm ups to practice matching pitch and understand the importance of warming up; learn songs for the Pops Concert.

Level 3 ASSESSMENTS must be passed no later than February 7th.

Level 4 ASSESSMENTS must be passed no alter than March 6th.

MP1.Cr.11.m: Compose short pieces using standard and/or alternative notation and technology within specified guidelines, demonstrating the use of the elements of music.

MP2.P.17.m: Rehearse and demonstrate the ability to sing expressively, on pitch, and in rhythm, while using proper technique and maintaining a steady beat.

MP3.R.9.m: Define and demonstrate understanding of foundational musical elements in discussion and written reflections.

MP4.Cn.10.m: Explain how music relates to self, others and the world using grade-appropriate music vocabulary.

MP4.Cn.11.m: Categorize musical connections, similarities and differences.

MP4.Cn.12.m: Compare and contrast the roles of musicians in various music settings and world cultures.
