Safe Schools Maryland

An anonymous and free reporting system available to students, teachers, school staff members, parents, and the general public to report any school or student safety concerns, including mental health concerns. It operates 24 hours a day seven days a week. Children and young adults are stronger students when they feel safe and secure.

STUDENT ENROLLMENT

To register/enroll your child, please provide the following:


  • Proof of residency (Copy of Current lease or Property Tax Bill)

  • Copy of child's birth certificate

  • Copy of child's immunization records

  • Photo of parent ID

  • Custody papers, if applicable

  • Name and contact information of the previous school

School Transfer Packet should include these documents:

  • Copy of last report card

  • Withdrawal/clearance form

  • Health/immunization records

  • Copy of the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) if the student receives special education services

  • Copy of 504 Plan, if applicable

  • Name and contact information of the previous school

At Takoma Park Middle School, we offer an inclusion program to all of our students in Special Education. Students are mainstreamed for the majority, if not all, of their academic and elective classes. These classes are co-taught by a general education teacher along with a special education teacher/paraeducator.

School Psychologist

School psychologists ensure that every child learns in a safe, healthy, and supportive environment. They are school-based mental health professionals trained in both psychology and education. Psychological services are available to all students.

Pupil Personnel Worker (PPW)

Pupil personnel workers (PPWs) act as case managers for identified students, making program changes and monitoring progress. 


PPWs provide service and assistance to students, families, and schools in the following four areas:

  • Advocate for all students.

  • Consult with school staff and parents on a variety of issues.

  • Serve as a liaison between various departments within MCPS.

  • Refer staff and families to outside agencies and community service providers.

Family Engagement Specialist (FES)

The FES is here to connect, support, and empower families by:

  • Building strong relationships between home and school

  • Creating a welcoming, inclusive school environment

  • Helping families stay involved in school events, workshops, and student learning

  • Connecting you to helpful resources, both in school and the community

  • Supporting families facing language, cultural, or economic barriers

  • Advocating for students and families to ensure every voice is heard
