The Downcounty Consortium includes five high schools and their feeder middle and elementary schoolsâBlair, Einstein, Kennedy, Northwood, and Wheaton. Each DCC high school offers distinctive academy programs designed to capture studentsâ interest, incorporate rigorous academic course work, explore possible career pathways, and bring real world relevance to studentsâ education. Â
All Grade 8 students living within the DCC boundaries participate in the Choice process, ranking the five high schools in order of preference. Assignments are made through a lottery process that considers multiple factors; while every effort is made to honor first choices, placement is not guaranteed and is not based solely on space or preference.
Assignment to a studentâs base high school is guaranteed ifÂ
(1) it is indicated as first choice on the Choice form ORÂ
(2) it is indicated as the second choice and the first choice school is not available.
Parents may request that their Grade 8 child be assigned to the same high school as a sibling who is currently in the comprehensive program in Grade 9, 10, or 11 at a DCC high school. The sibling link will be indicated on the Choice form instruction letter mailed in October. Simply place the siblings assigned high school as their first choice on the Choice form.Â
