Students expanded on their previous color theory knowledge and discussed and identified the different complimentary color pairs on any given color wheel. They took this knowledge and used it to help them create an image of a lava lamp that was filled with complimentary color pairs and a decorative background.
Students expanded on their knowledge of landscapes and discussed the art of cityscapes. Students depicted an original cityscape and then decorated each of their buildings using a variety of different types of textures.
Students learned about the Japanese artist, Yayoi Kusama. After looking at her artwork and learning about her life they created their own Kusama inspired collage using some of Kusama's popular themes of repetition, patterns, polka dots, and pumpkins.
Students used clay techniques like slab building and blending to make their own original underwater creatures out of clay. They then painted them using more than one color.
Students looked at the work of African American abstract painter, Reggie Laurent and combined both organic and abstract shapes together in a similar style to Laurent. They then decorated their work and added details in the form of different types of lines.
