-Zines

-Zines are a great easy crafty way to get your message across. We make them out of a single sheet of 8.5 x 11 paper and fold it as described below. Then fill in each of the 8 rectangles on one side with useful information about your ISSUE and use the back for a snazzy poster or graphic. It's easy, it's fun, it's informative and multipurpose use of paper. Kids can carry it in their pocket and hand them out to friends or strangers. There is a sample from Greer MCHS in South Carolina below.

HOW TO MAKE A –ZINE

1. Decide on an Issue you want to write about or an event you are planning and the mission of that event.

2. Get a piece of 8.5 x 11 paper

3. Place it Horizontally. Fold it in half bringing the bottom to the top.

4. Now fold the sheet in half from left to right.

5. Now fold it in half once again.

6. Open the sheet and you should have 8 segments

7. Repeat the first fold and make a cut between segments 2 to 3 across the middle.

8. Fold into a cross.

9. Collapse into the form of a book.

10. Mark the pages 1-8 so when you open it up you will know the order and direction of each page.(Use a pencil)

11. Decide what you will place and in what order.

a. Consider pictures, title and back page, data, photos, news, invitations, features about people, causes, or ask for donations.
