This video explains in more detail:
Here's more tuned percussion:
Percussion lessons initially focus on the Snare Drum and Xylophone. These instruments allow for the establishment of basic technical and musical understanding, and can be used a springboard to other instruments later on. These other instruments include theTimpani and Marimba as well as Drum Kit, which typically will not be studied until term 4 of year 7 at the earliest, and more likely in year 8. Individual students may also be exposed to certain instruments as required by the ensemble program - many band pieces will have parts for instruments such as Tambourine, Triangle, Cymbals, Bass Drum etc. which are part of the percussion family. In most cases the technique for these instruments will simply be adapted from what they have already learned for the Snare Drum.
Some percussion instruments students will play in McKinnon SC ensembles:
Snare Drum
Bass Drum
Timpani
Gong
Xylophone
Glockenspiel
Crash cymbals
...and many more!
