This ensemble currently includes approximately 20 students and rehearses after school on Tuesdays at McKinnon Road Campus.
This ensemble currently includes approximately 20 students and rehearses after school on Tuesdays at McKinnon Road Campus.
During this rehearsal students refine their ensemble skills in the context of jazz, following on from their involvement in Intermediate Stage Band, as well as the other ensembles the school has to offer. This includes playing more complex musical selections with the intention of developing a greater range of musical expression, developing more independence and self-reliance within the group and widening students' understanding of music of the past and of different cultures through high quality repertoire.

Performance activities they may expect to engage in include concerts in the school hall, and McKinnon's annual Winter Concert held at Robert Blackwood Hall, and events such as the Victorian School Music Festival.
