Term 2 Principals Message:
Dear parents, caregivers, staff and boys,
RE: Orange Alert Level
Welcome to the new term. I trust you have found some relaxing family time over the last two weeks.
The Ministry of Education has stated :
- At Orange, face masks are no longer required at school. However, the Ministry of Education strongly encourages that face masks continue to be worn indoors.
- Face masks also continue to be required for students aged 12 and above on school and public transport.
John McGlashan College will continue to be conservative in its approach. We strongly encourage everyone to follow best practices and, where appropriate, wear masks.
Individual staff will decide their comfort level regarding mask-wearing with consideration of the Ministry of Education guidelines which strongly recommend that they are worn indoors.
Wearing masks in our community is a collective commitment to looking after our students and staff, including members of our extended families.
- Students will be required to carry a mask and will be reminded that they may be asked to put them on in classes, assemblies and gatherings.
- Rooms will be ventilated as much as possible. Students should consider layering their clothing in cooler conditions.
- We will continue to encourage commonly understood handwashing practices, coughing/sneezing etiquette and staying home if unwell.
- Please inform the college if your son is COVID positive or has a household contact (Reception - 03 4676620).
- Masks will be worn on the library floor and in the study rooms.
- Visitors will continue to be expected to wear masks.
- If your son has compromised health or you wish to discuss any other concerns, please contact Mr Hunter so that we can develop a personalised management plan (nigel.hunter@mcglashan.school.nz).
All the best for Term 2.
Ngā mihi nui,
Neil Garry
