Foothills Community School utilizes student performance data (including common assessments, formative assessments, and EOG data) as well as surveys (for example: Youth Truth), interviews and observation data to adjust and improve upon the STEM Education Plan as well as grow individual students based on their indicated needs. This helps the school to continuously improve performance, adjust schedules, acquire materials to enhance learning, and accelerate student learning and growth. The staff’s, student’s and stakeholder’s viewpoints are critical to ensuring the school is providing ample opportunities for students to learn and grow, but North Carolina testing (EOG/EOC/NCFE) data is only one measure to ensure student success and achievement. The School leadership consistently prioritizes and supports with resources the use of teacher-created formative and summative assessments to measure student learning and growth throughout the year. This can be seen in the development of tasks in content areas, the common assessments as well as culminating project products.
