Teachers at Foothills Community School would not be able to accomplish all they have and be successful if they were not working collaboratively constantly. Teachers collaborate weekly with the purpose of developing learning outcomes and instruction that integrates multiple STEM and non-STEM related subject areas. This ensure that our scholars are able to seamlessly connect learning across multiple disciplines. This collaboration can be seen in our weekly planning documents, both as a whole group and as content areas. We work together amongst our peers across the district to ensure that learning is occurring at a higher or similar level of rigor (these are twice per year arranged by the district). FCS’s whole group PLCs occur weekly on Tuesdays. All staff members work to determine the learning outcomes of their particular class as it relates to the overarching project to ensure student learning goals are aligned to the common standards documents. Content level meetings happen on different days throughout the week- ELA meets on Monday, Social Studies, Tuesday, Math and Science on Thursdays. During this time teachers design learning outcomes, discuss their upcoming topics/standards, the best and different ways to address the standards, and design common assessments.
