Evidence: Multiple Assessment Types
Students use multiple portfolios to assess their progress. Students notebooks in many of the classes are considered portfolios because the notebooks keep track of the progress that students are making. Students are required to have an online portfolio and some students have these online portfolio attached to their signature for their email. For different standards, students are required to create portfolios of that standard that shows how far the student has come to master the standard. These portfolios are used to have conversations with the students on where they are at for mastery and what they need to do to get where they are going. If mastery is obtained, the portfolio is used to have conversation to push the student above and beyond mastery.
Using Assessments to Set Goals
"Goals always explain what students need to understand, and what they must be able to do. This helps the teacher to plan learning activities, and helps students understand what is required." ~Victoria State Education
Here you will see one of our STEM Robotics class compete against one another as their assessment. They were to construct a robot which could toss two different projectiles across a cardboard box. They designed the robot, the attachment, and then had to program the robot in order to compete against one another.
