In addition to jobs, summer classes, travel, and other common summer activities, I sometimes get asked about summer programs at colleges that can help high school students explore interests and grow. These are completely optional and are in no way a required part of putting together a strong college application.
Parents should be cautious of the formation that their son or daughter will be receiving when sending them off to a camp or program. Always do your homework to make sure the content is not questionable and the cost is not exorbitant.
CLT SUMMER PROGRAM GUIDE
Here are some general ideas from the Classic Learning Test which promotes classical colleges across the country. Some are located in North Carolina such as Schola or Compass. I would also recommend searching to see if any colleges in which you have an interest host summer camps for high school students
