Scholarships

What do I need to do to earn scholarships? Almost all scholarships are looking for hard work and solid results in one or more of the following areas: scholarship, leadership, service, and character. Some even call for "physical vigor" or a committment to fitness and health. 

As you go through your high school years, try to find ways to go above and beyond your high school classwork perhaps with academic competitions or other educational experiences, find ways to lead and have a positive impact on others both in school and outside of school, take advantage of opportunities to serve others, and be sure to act with integrity and make good choices that shape your moral character and help you to be the best student, friend, classmate, or teammate possible.

SENIORS! See below for some scholarship opportunities that might interest you. Please note that this is not an exhaustive list, so consider these reminders:

• The FAFSA will most likely be your primary source of financial aid and it is required for various scholarships. 

• Remember to check your potential colleges' scholarship pages for in-house scholarship programs. 

• Additionally, CFNC, CareerOneStop, Fastweb, and Big Future are great search engines for ALL kinds of scholarships! 

• Surry's website also has a scholarship page with many scholarships listed. Once you apply to SCC, you should also click "Apply for Foundation Scholarships."
