Electives
Aside from the core subjects included in the SHS curriculum, Miriam College Nuvali offers the following elective subjects as supplementary knowledge related on the students' fields of interest. These subjects will provide them with introductory knowledge in preparation for college. The following subjects included in the STEM strand are as follows:
Business Mathematics
This elective will equip students with effective techniques in applying mathematics into real world situations particularly in the business industry. Mathematical concepts such as basic mathematical operations, fractions and percent, ratio and proportion, and buying and selling will be comprehensively discussed.
Introduction to Programming, Coding, and Robotics
Students will be exposed to basic programming codes and techniques using Python programming language. In-depth discussion and application of its concepts will be given focus on in preparation for Robotics technology.
Introduction to Human Anatomy and Physiology
This elective is suitable for students interested in pursuing a course in the medical field. It will be focusing on providing a comprehensive study on the anatomy and physiology of the human body. Learning components include the physical arrangements of the body parts and their corresponding functions.
Parasitology and Microbiology
This elective is a centered study that will equip students with knowledge and understanding on parasites and other microscopic organisms and its relations to a living thing. Understanding the life cycle of these organisms will help us gain more knowledge on the occurrence of infectious diseases.
