At Mathews High School we provide academic and career planning through individual counseling and classroom lessons. One of our top priorities is to help our students realize that there is more than one route to a successful future. It is our goal to help students recognize their skills, learn about their options, and realize their potential. Below are resources we use with the students.
Choosing a college means knowing your options. The Opportunities guide helps high school students choose the right college, understand admission requirements, identify types of financial aid and more.
Career and technical education (CTE) involves educational programs that provide students with the technical and professional skills to succeed in the workplace and throughout their career. CTE programs are designed to meet the needs of employers while providing pathways to lifelong learning and family-sustaining careers, often taught through hands-on learning and on-the-job experience.

At Roadtrip Nation, we know what it's like to feel lost, because we've been there. That's why, in 2001, we hit the road to get advice from people who'd found fulfilling work. Their wisdom taught us there's no "right" way to build a career—that there were actually endless unique paths we could take forward. Now, their stories will guide you toward work you care about, too.
Below are checklists for students. These provide a good guide for students on what they need to accomplish each year.
