If you have trouble installing mongo you can also use a remote free deployment provided by https://mlab.com.
be patient with the configuration step, well worth the effort :-). Remember nodejs is the undisputed king of modern web services http://www.modulecounts.com and Mongo is the new king of NoSQL backends, Hadoop is now only half as popular.
brew for windows http://scoop.sh (not sure how good it is).
