1st day of the 5 week Node+Mongo training (towards certification): M101JS: MongoDB for Node.js Developers
With the adoption of Cloud Computing infrastructure for HIPAA data in teh final weeks of 2015, a few of you (Wade !) saw both the need and opportunity to set formal training in the NodeJS + MongoDB core components of the microservice architecture emerging everywhere. So we're selecting a little trail of MOOCs to support that training and will be using our weekly hackathon to provide the study group support that widely seen as critical for the success of online education. Since you are going to ask: no you don't have to come to the hackathon to finish the training as long as you finish it - there is an exam at the end and a formal certificate you can use to advance your career. If you take it, please let me know so I ask for your reimbursement. The goal of this MOOC series is to empower each of you with a shared toolset and, just as important, a shared language. Those who come after you will be asked to prove they can follow your footsteps towards using data intensive cloud computing resources at Stony Brook for microservice composition and mobile development.
After this first MOOC we'll move to the front end with other MOOCs teaching the MEAN stack and API management languages. Right now it looks like https://www.edx.org/course/introduction-mongodb-using-mean-stack-mongodbx-m101x will be the follow up. Again, leading to reimbursable certification. If you know of a MEANer MOOC please let us know.
1. Go to M101JS: MongoDB for Node.js Developers, create an account and we'll watch the first class.
