7th graders were asked to create a portrait poem of a person they know; to paint a portrait with words. What incredible writing talent! Enjoy!
Curls loose,
Curls smelling of vanilla.
Curls Flowing loose,
Around your back.
It is you.
Hands wrinkled,
Hands soft and warm
Hands like your love
It is you.
Words Loving,
Words filled with comfort.
Words filling the room,
With love and smiles.
It is you.
Smile so warm,
Smile so comforting.
Smile so loveable,
Smile that fills everyone,
With love and warmth.
It is you.
Personality sweet like cake,
Personality welcoming to.
Everyone,
Personality loving.
Personality bringing joy to ,
Every room you enter.
It is you.
My world,
My home,
My comforter,
My hero,
My mother.

I love your fine hair
the changes it's been through.
I love your dark humor
though many may not,
I love your true smile
It lights up the room.
I love your great cooking,
It’s always full of love.
I love your warm hands,
I don’t like when they’re cold.
I love your watercolor eyes,
the way they glimmer in the light.
I love your long beard,
though many say “cut it.”
Say it more I ought,
I love you a lot.
Your face, Your eyes,
the color of the Midnight sky,
Your smile
that lights up the room,
Your brown wavy hair

In every way possible, Your
Perseverance, Every time I
Call you, the same response
every single time “I miss you”
Every time I shed tears,
There you are always,
To cheer me up,
To tell me everythings
Okay, I love you to the
Moon and back,
Can’t wait to see you
again.

I Can’t Thank You Enough
Hair dark as the soil you bond with,
Skin sunburnt a rosy red,
With dark camel brown eyes,
You care for me each day.
Doing everything you can and more,
You make your children happy
By only your smile
And love.
Dressing sharp or “homey,”
You are always ready.
From taking us to the library
To getting emergency supplies
For school projects
You are the best thing that has happened
To me in all my life
Yet I don’t thank you enough
Though I should.
Thank you for making us happy
Thank you for keeping me safe
Thank you for your comfort
Thank you for your All.

Friends.
It’s what I would like to call us,
Like peas and carrots served at a thanksgiving meal,
You with your long, hickory colored hair that b l o w s in the wind.
Friends.
A drip painting splattered across your face,
Black and Gold glasses that reflect your posture like a queen on a throne.
It’s what I would like to call us,
Friends.
Or the time I saw you at the water park last summer,
I only noticed that your skin looked scared of the sun,
To think that not long later,
We would be sitting in the same classroom laughing our way through rather…
interesting books.
Friends.
Not that I don’t have any,
From all over,
Volleyball, same interest, classes.
It could be a competition,
But in many ways, you would have won.
Though there’s times of boy obsession, and “67’s”.

But that’s what drew me to you and I hope it's what I can call us,
Friends.
There is way too many times when I choke on your 500 different perfumes,
And there are times when you are humorous and soft.
Or when you are FIRM and STRICT.
But you're still you.
Friends.
And so to this day,
I w o n d e r and w o n d e r more than half the time what is going on in that head of yours,
Or the words that come out of your mouth,
But I’m still glad that I can hopefully call us,

Thank you cousin
Love isn’t enough to describe what you are to me.
I’m thankful for every memory and moment that you left with me.
From when you taught me the running holes for football. Evens on the right and
Odds on the left. I’ll never forget the intense Madden games we used to have with my dad.
or the time my Mom made 40 burritos and you and my Dad had a competition to see who could
Eat the most. You always win. Thank you for all the amazing football games I could watch
you play and all the touchdowns I watch you get and all the trophies that were
in your room and that one time I broke it and you yelled at me. For all
the happiness that you brought to our family for all the times
Thank you for giving that big white smile to everyone
You know the beautiful black waves that looks
So good that you could surf on them I miss
You every day Love you cus.
