Check your Google Calendar for your invite and time.
If you are unable to attend at the time your teacher leader has shared out, be sure to watch the recording! (Recordings will be sent via email by your assigned Teacher Leader)

Each of these templates contain two digital citizenship lessons from Common Sense Education. These are a required part of RLE orientation. We recommend creating a free account and using the additional lessons as RLE progress through the year. For this week, we are including a Privacy & Security Lesson and a Media Balance & Well Being Lesson.
Once you've completed your Orienation Plans - copy them and paste them into your RLE document that you have linked in Schoology. NOTE: This document should be a continuous running document of all the learning you've shared to families.
There is a lot of information out there right now about schools and expectations that may be confusing. You will want to reconnect with your families and attempt to clarify in your message Thursday that goes along with your RLE Orientation.
Naming Convention - in order to help our families with emails regarding learning - any email you send about Remote learning should follow this convention: RLE -(your grade)(your last name)-date for learning (i.e RLE-1st-hufnagel-4/6/20)
Be sure you discuss that this week is Orientation and Next Week we will be back to new learning that students should be engaged in.
Describe the expected time frames for learning and why it is different than a typical school day:
Virtual learning takes longer
Expected time learning
Preschool - 1/2 hour per day, broken up into smaller increments
Kindergarten - 1 hour per day
1st & 2nd grade - 2.5 hours per day
3rd & 4th grade - 3 hours per day
5th & 6th grade - 3 - 3.5 hours per day
Our focus is key standards that will ensure success next fall NOT all standards
Be sure to share with families that Remote Learning Experiences should be done in smaller chunks - not all 2-3 hours at once!
Give some information about your Comet Connect Time - what is it, when will you offer it, how will it work?
Reiterate that Learning with be shared:
via emails will arrive each night at 8:00 PM (Prek-4)
via Schoology each Sunday night by 8:00PM (5-12)
You will want to ensure your families are engaging on Thursday and Friday so that you can personally follow up with anyone who has not engaged.
Some ideas:
Create a Google Check In Form (Don't know how - watch this)
Ask families/students to respond via Flipgrid, Seesaw, Google Classroom, Email....
4th, 5th, and 6th grade only:
As you engage with families, if they have device or wifi needs, please have them email support@masonohioschools.com and a member of the tech dept. will reach out.
In the event that your wi-fi goes out - are you set up in Google to have your stuff save offline?
Open your Google Drive
Go to the Settings Gear
Make sure the blue box is checked next to offline
Have a picture with student names that you need to blur before sharing on social media?
There are lots of fancy tools you can use to do this, below are two simple methods!
For Phone Pics:
Easy and Quick: If the picture is on your phone, just go to the photo editing tool and use the marker to black out the names.
For Screenshots
Easy and Quick: Use the Snipping Tool to take the Screenshot - it has an onboard marker tool to cross out names.
School Supplies for Families in Need: Retired Mason teacher Gayle Ertel is the steward of three Little Libraries in Mason. Instead of books, for now the one on Tylersville Road (across from the Middle School) is filled with school supplies for anyone who needs them. Please use the same precautions you would use when picking up groceries or food through a drive-through if you are willing to drop off supplies, or when picking them up.
Should I record my Google Meet meetings? Yes. If it is just a meeting, record and it will save to your Google Meet Folder, just as a precaution - you would not share or post this.
If you are recording instruction - it is OK to record and share.
What if I need to connect with a family who requires translation services?
Our ESL team has created this amazing support document for you. (Click here)
Make a copy and customize for your class :) This is being shared with grades 7-12, but the last two slides could easily be used with younger students too!
