A short message from your Learning Experience Team.
We are here to help. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have questions or ideas!
Planning for and teaching a remote learning experience is a new endeavor for all of us, and learning to do so with the youngest students in our district will certainly take us on a journey we never anticipated. We expect that we will learn many things about ourselves as learners, as well as, about the resiliency of our students during this journey.
As we navigate the transition to a remote learning environment, Mason’s guidelines for remote learning are to provide consistency for our families and students. Knowing your students are accustomed to your way of instructing, continue to create assignments and organize learning in ways that are familiar to your students, yet also provide consistency across grade levels and classrooms in order to create predictability for families. Let’s work together to be sure we have the best “Response” to this “Event” which will produce the most positive “Outcome” for the best learning in Mason.
There are many things we will need to do to make this transition smooth for our students, our families, and ourselves. We will need to be incredibly reflective and honest with ourselves and our trusted colleagues to take on this new challenge. But we know that you all can rock this!
Take some time now to read through the following blog posts from some of our trusted thought partners. They give us some great advice on how we can take care of ourselves and our students as we make this transition.

This week students will maintain their learning momentum by engaging in learning activities that support and enrich their experience on the MCS Learning Momentum site This site will be shared with families later today. It was put together by the Learning Experience Team and Teacher Leaders. It is also an evolving resource; if you have suggestions for the site - please share them on the suggestions form!
** Note - We will test this out with families on April 1st-3rd.
This email will be a template that we will learn about in more detail later in the week. By using a consistent template across all grades, parents will have a familiar space to access and understand the learning goals for the day. The template is very general and easily customizable. If you would like to personalize your template - that is fine! Just please maintain the basic tabling format, and remember - you will be copying and pasting this into an email.
This link will be helpful to families in the event that an email goes to junk, or they miss a day, or accidentally delete. In addition, if a call comes in to the office, administrators and/or admin. assistants will know where to look for your document in order to assist the family.
FAQ:
What about teachers who team?
Teaming teachers will need to collaborate so that families only receive one email each day. We recommend creating one Template Doc together that you are both working from.
What about Special area/ Gifted Teachers teachers?
Each grade level and special area team will have a shared document that will be shared with teachers. Homeroom teachers will add your plans to their daily email - this will prevent families from receiving multiple emails each day.
What about Reading/ELL/IS?
You will want to collaborate with the classroom teachers you are working with. At this time, we do not believe you will need a daily template -but this can be changed or updated as necessary. Rather, we anticipate that your work will not be a post, but rather Google Hangouts with your students on a regular basis.
