Monday, August 26th: Welcome to 7th Grade Western Heritage! Students will meet Mrs. Hartman and participate in various "Getting to Know You" activities. Students will become familiar with classroom policies and resources within the classroom. There are no graded assignments for today's class.
Tuesday, August 27th: Students will be provided a "class policy sheet" that explains expectations for the learning environment. Students will become familiar with classroom procedures, safety procedures, and assignment expectations. The class policy sheet needs to be signed by students and their guardians. This is due Thursday, August 29th. Students will continue various "Getting to Know You" activities, including a "Historical Puzzle Piece" activity. Historical Puzzle piece assignments are due Thursday, August 29th at the start of class.

Wednesday, August 28th: Students will be learning about the concept of chronological order throughout historic timelines and the use of BCE and CE. Students will be provided a Rome Unit Packet #1 to use for the first half of our Rome Unit. Students will complete an activity with Roman Numerals in their packet. Students will also read an introduction about the location of Ancient Rome (the city) in their packets. Students will compare the geography of Rome to that of the geography of Greece (in their packets). Students will have time to continue working on their Historical Puzzle Piece assignment if needed (due Thursday, August 29th). The Roman Numerals Secret Message activity (in packet) will be due on Tuesday, September 3rd.

Unit #1-Ancient Rome: Concepts, Goals, Vocabulary, and Lesson Questions (for reference and study purposes)
Thursday, August 29th: Students will review Roman Numerals. Students will learn about "chronological order" and the terms used to describe historical time periods. Students will complete an Edpuzzle on google classroom (video with embedded questions) about historical timelines. This is posted to google classroom. Students will also read the article "Intro to Ancient Rome" in their Rome Unit #1 Packets. They will transact with the text as they follow along with Mrs. Hartman. On the next page, they will compare and contrast Greek and Roman Geography and location. Students will answer the summarizing question at the bottom of that page. Students will then begin to work on their Rome maps in their packets. Resources for labeling the map can be found on google classroom and below.
