Meet Miss Swift

Hi there! I am so excited to have your child in my class. Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I have taught for 12 years at Section Elementary. This will be my second year teaching at Big Bend Elementary. I was born and raised in Milwaukee and received my bachelors in Psychology from Beloit College and my Masters in Education and Teaching License from Cardinal Stritch University.

I love to spend time with my family and friends and go to Door County and Disney World with them. I also try to get to every Milwaukee Wave game each soccer season.

Matchli is my fur baby. He is 10 years old and quite a handful. My nieces and nephew are the most important people in my life.  I am lucky enough to only live 5 minutes from them, so I get to see them every week!

Teaching Philosophy:

As an educator, I like to encourage my students to become independent learners. When students take ownership of their learning they have a voice in how their learning takes place. Together, as a team, we learn different strategies and life skills that are beneficial in any setting. Students become intrinsically motivated and take pride in their education and learning.

This isn't just my classroom, it is our classroom. A space where mistakes will happen, learning will take place, and an environment that allows students to grow at their pace. A space where we laugh, create, explore, and challenge each other. This is our learning classroom.
