You have the option to allow students to see their overall grades when they visit the Grades tool, and you can temporarily hide final grades from their view if needed.
For students to see their overall final grade in your course, you'll need to select a specific setting in the Grades tool. Here's where to find it:
Step 1. Click Grades in your course navigation menu.
Step 2. Click Settings at the top-right side of the page. This will open settings options for your course's Grades tool with the "Personal Display Options" tab displayed.

Step 5. Click the Save button at the bottom of the page. Students should now be able to see their overall grade in their view of the Grades tool.
To hide students' overall final grade, you'll need to "unrelease" it. Here's how to do it:
Step 1. Click Grades in your course navigation menu. This will display the gradebook for your course.
Step 2. Make sure the Enter Grades tab is selected.
Step 3. Click the down arrow to the right of Final Calculated Grade, then select Enter Grades on its options menu. This will display the Final Grades page.

Step 4. Click the checkbox in the header row of the table. This will select all students in your course.
Step 5. Click the Release/Unrelease link. This will unrelease the final grade for all students, which means it will be no longer visible to them. You can confirm this by viewing the final column in the title, "Released," and making sure the checkboxes in it are empty.

Step 5. Click the Save and Close button at the bottom of the page. Students should no longer be able to see their overall grade in the Grades tool.
NOTE: To make final grades visible to students at a later point, simply repeat all of these steps, which will release students' final grades again. To confirm, make sure all checkboxes in the "Released" column on the Final Grades page are selected as you complete Step 5.
