Go to Brightspace (learn.marywood.edu), and use the username and password that you received from the Human Resources department to log in. These credentials are the same ones you use to log into the MarywoodYou portal.
If you have not yet received your username and initial password, reach out to the Human Resources department for help.
Once you've logged into Brightspace, click on the waffle icon in the white bar at the top of any page. (It's a grid with 9 squares.) This will display all courses in which you are enrolled.
If you don't see a course you believe you should be able to access, make sure you are assigned as an instructor of record. Courses are created according to the Registrar’s records, so you'll need to submit a Master Schedule Change form to the Registrar’s Office to be added to a course in Brightspace.
You cannot add someone to a Brightspace course yourself. Instead, follow these instructions based on the role the person needs to have in your course:
Faculty/staff who are observers or advisors: Submit a Help Desk ticket with the course name, course section, and type of access you would like the faculty member to have, as well as their Marywood email address.
Student: Make sure the student has registered for the course. They cannot be manually added; instead, they must formally register.
Graduate assistant or tutor: Submit a Help Desk ticket with the course name and course section, and type of access the student should have, as well as their Marywood email address.
Faculty are able to copy content from one course to another themselves. Just follow the instructions in this guide:
Deleting grade items in Brightspace can be complicated: The steps you need to take will depend on whether a grade item is associated with an activity, i.e., a discussion, assignment, or quiz.
When you're on the Manage Grades tab in the Grades tool, you can quickly tell if a grade item has an association because the type of activity it's associated with will be listed under the "Association" column.
Figure. The Grades tool open to the Manage Grades tab with the Association column highlighted
If the grade item is NOT associated with an activity, you'll find the Delete option under the More Actions menu. This Brightspace guide explains the process: Delete Grade Items or Categories.
If the grade item is associated with an activity, you'll first need to remove it from its respective discussion, assignment, or quiz, then you'll be able to delete it. This Brightspace video explains how: Delete Grade Items With Associations.
NOTE: It can be easy to accidentally delete a grade category instead of a grade item. To avoid doing this, remember that the row for a grade category always has a gray background and the "Type" column will be blank, as you can see in the screenshot above with "Assignments" and "Discussions."
Yes—Brightspace provides faculty with a couple of different options for hiding students' grades (which we recommend as a best practice, especially if it'll take you more than 30 minutes to evaluate all students' work). Review this guide to learn more:
By default, Brightspace doesn't automatically display final grades to students; they only see their scores on individual assignments, not their cumulative grade for the course.
If you want students to be able to keep track of their grades as your course progresses, you'll want to select the appropriate settings in the Grades area of your course. If you decide at some point that you'd like to temporarily hide final grades, you can "unrelease" them. Review this guide to learn more:
TurnItIn is fully integrated with the Assignments tool in Brightspace (but not Quizzes or Discussions). Review Brightspace's knowlege base article, Assignments and TurnItIn, to learn more about how it works.

You can sign in through our Marywood Zoom site or through the Zoom application if you have it installed on your computer. In both cases, always opt to sign in via Google, then select your Marywood email account. You may be prompted to enter your email password.
Navigate to your Brightspace course, then click Zoom in the course navigation menu. You should be automatically logged in. If not, please submit a help desk ticket.
If you record a Zoom meeting to the cloud, the recording will be available for 30 days. If you need recordings for longer, download the video file from the Recordings section in your Marywood Zoom account.
You can upload a video file of a recorded Zoom session through the Video Note tool in Brightspace.
NOTE: Due to FERPA regulations, if you have a recording of a Zoom session in which students can be seen and/or heard, you cannot share it outside of the class in which it was recorded unless you get written permission from every student who appears in the video.

Bongo is a platform integrated into Brightspace that provides two different tools: Virtual Classroom, which can be used to conduct live class sessions, and Video Assignments, which can be used to create assignments that require students to record a video response.
Students have different technology requirements depending on the program they are enrolled in. For more information, refer to the PC/Mac Requirements section of the IT department's Frequently Asked Questions page.
If you need to request a Microsoft Office 365 license, please fill out and submit a Request Microsoft Office 365 form.
Log into Marywood's Qualtrics portal with your Marywood username and password. You will be automatically added to our Marywood license.
