MCSD Mentor Positions:
We will hire mentors to support our new teachers on an initial license as well as teachers on a standard license new to the district. There is a job description linked below including responsibilities and time commitments. Mentors are assigned to a new teacher with principal input, typically in the same building. The number of mentors hired will reflect the mentees in need of a mentor. All mentors must complete the district Mentor training prior to mentoring. This can be done asynchronously through an Online Academy course or in person through the Inspired Mentorship workshop at Central Rivers AEA. These trainings will be paid at the same rate and is in addition to the Mentor stipend.
Mentor Position, Application, and Hiring Details:
Mentors will receive a stipend of $1000 pending successful completion of the tasks noted below. More specifics will be forthcoming for mentors regarding the times/dates for the monthly sessions and will be dependent on the mentor teacher's assigned new teacher.
Extra time for Mentors:
Time spent supporting your mentee will be differentiated according to the assigned new teacher mentee's role (1st-year teacher, 2nd-year teacher, or 1st year experienced teacher). The time will be split between a welcome lunch session in August, district mentor meetings, observation cycles with the new teacher, and collaboration time for new teacher mini-courses. See the Mentor Teacher Job Description linked below for specific expectations.
Applicants for the Mentor position must submit an online application (see link below).
After reviewing the questions on the application, we encourage you to type your responses into a Google Doc first in order to take advantage of the ability to save your work, to use spell check, and to access other editing features. These positions are 1-year positions and there is no guarantee from year-to-year of continued compensation or employment.
