Robotics Club

About Us

The Robotics Club is about exploring innovation in technology and using problem solving methods to design and build devices capable of operating at a distance. We have previously been involved in robotics competitions including most notably the First Tech Challenge where as a first year team back in 2015 we were able to beat many veteran teams to reach sixth and fifth place in a 20-team competition. It's been a few years since then and have not attended that competition these past two years but we are hoping to come back strong in Fall of 2021 and in the meanwhile have been setting up a variety of activities such as last year's LocoRobo design challenge and virtual robotics design and building with physics simulators.

Our Mission

Our goal as a club is for students to get a taste of robotics as a field, both designing them physically to be able to accomplish goals and program them digitally to actually do so. There's a lot of creativity in the approach to overcoming a challenge for something even as simple as placing an egg in a basket as your robot needs to be able to maneuver, to pick the egg up stabley without breaking it, and to then bring it to where it needs to go, setting it down carefully. This kind of challenge is one that encourages flexibility of thought in students as well as being able to create design mechanics.
