At the end of each academic year, the averages in Mathematics of each student at Matawan Regional High School are evaluated. A student at Matawan Regional High School is eligible for induction into the Math Honor Society if the student completes a Mathematics curriculum up to or beyond Algebra 2 with a weighted average in Math of 94.5 or better. Once a student has been inducted, he/she must maintain a weighted average of 94.5 or better at the end of each academic year thereafter and fulfill tutoring obligations, to continue to be a member of the Society.
For the purposes of the Math Honor Society only, the weights are as follows: 94.5 in a regular Math class, 89.5 in an Honors class and 87.5 in an AP class. To compute his or her average, a student adds 5 points to all honors Math classes and 7 points to all AP Math classes and finds his/her Math average. If his/her average is 94.5 or higher, the student is eligible for induction or eligible to maintain membership in the society. Students who take Math courses outside of Matawan Regional High School must have their courses evaluated by the guidance department before they can be eligible to be inducted or to maintain membership. Each year, the MHS holds its annual induction ceremony jointly with the Foreign Language Honor Society (FLHS), the Science Honor Society and the English Honor Society.

Advisor: Dr. Neil Jackman
Each student newly inducted into the Math Honor Society must complete 5 hours of tutoring. All students who were inducted in a previous year (returning inductees) with the exception of seniors, are also required to complete 5 hours of tutoring. Seniors who are returning inductees are required to complete 3 hours of tutoring. The deadlines for completion of the tutoring obligations are set annually. Students are typically informed of these timelines during the first Math Honor Society meeting each year. It is the responsibility of the student to inform the advisor of any extenuating circumstances related to meeting the timelines well in advance of the expiration of the timelines. Students who do not complete the 5 hour tutoring obligation within the timeline established by the advisor will not be considered members of the Math Honor Society and are not eligible for induction in the subsequent year. The list of students eligible to be Math Honor Society members is typically updated during the first week of school. The list for this current academic year will be placed below when it becomes available.
