My study tips for World History are:
1) Do your homework in depth with the intention of really comprehending, not just searching for the answers.
2) Read the textbook sections and have someone quiz you on it.
3) Grab the easy points on tests by focusing on getting perfect scores on the vocab, map, names, and deities sections.
I love Google Keep on my computer. It is helping me keep organized when I do not write in my planner. My planner was a bit tough for me to get out each class period. Google Keep also lets me color code things according to subject and by adding the check boxes function, it allows me to check off what I have done.
I normally create study guides differently for each subject, so I will give a Science study guide example. First off, I look at google classroom and see if my teacher has posted anything to study for the upcoming test. If so, I will normally incorporate all the topics listed in google classroom into my study guide. I normally call this section “ Class Study Guide.” Normally there is some form of vocabulary, so I create note cards with definitions. Then I go through all the quizzes and class work we did throughout the term. I take parts of information from each assignment and call this section “Class and Quiz.” After that, I gather all the notes I took throughout the term and create a mini quiz. Finally, I print it out and study out loud.
A great study tip that has helped me is planning out my nights/ weekends. I write down everything specific I need to do for each class, then write my prediction of how long it will take me. Always predict more time if you are unsure because then you usually end up having more time to yourself than you planned or expected, which is always great. Also, after you complete one thing, mark it off the list, and continue to do that. Also for the weekends, plan which days you will do each assignment, so then you won’t hold it all off until Sunday night.
Ella's planner. Note color-coding according to tests and homework. Ella checks google classroom and stream for information, and writes down due dates that the teacher talks about. Google calendar is another way to check due dates as well.
For my Chemistry class, I make sure I check the google classroom for each day. The Teacher posts lessons and questions to review , and summarizes what I need to know. I keep quizzes to review and study from.
The Pomodoro method to study has been the most helpful. If I can stay focused for 25 minutes, I can take a little break of 5 minutes. It's worth it. (Find the Pomodoro method under Time Management.)
Rewriting notes helps because it puts the material back in my head. After each day, before exams and tests, I rewrite main points of my notes. I also write notes from the PowerPoints in google classroom.
Write in your agenda everyday. The Marist agenda is the BEST one. For each class I write the actual class and what I need to do. I check off the task once I'm done with it....it's very rewarding.
In Spanish... review your vocabulary every day...it's a must. Everything stems around vocabulary. I use quizlets and flashcards. Also, the textbook has different exercises in it that I complete. Pay attention in class- take notes. If the teacher writes it on the board...it's important.
Don't just reread your notes. I rewrite or retype them, and/or the summaries., Then I make flashcards out of my notes. I write questions on one side of the flashcard and the answers on the other side.
Use quizlet to help you memorize facts, and vocabulary.. I use quizlet when I have to memorize root words, French vocabulary, World History (wars, people's names, dates, battles).
Don't cram for a test! Start studying a couple days before the test. Leave your phone downstairs when you study so there are no distractions. Study 30 minutes, then take 5-10 minutes for break.
Give your phone to someone when you study for a set amount of time. If I do that...I can't make an excuse to distract myself.
Don't cram it all in the night before a test. Start studying about one week before a test. I complete the study guide and if there is something I don't know, I use Khan Academy to learn it.
Study for 40-45 minutes and then take a small break. If you have a lot of studying, go to bed early, and get up early the next morning to study.
